Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of minocycline hydrochloride ointment combined with metronidazole and vitamin B6 tablets in the treatment of periodontal abscess. Methods A total of 60 patients with periodontal abscess admitted to our hospital from December 2018 to October 2022 were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with minocycline hydrochloride ointment, and the observation group was treated with minocycline hydrochloride ointment combined with oral metronidazole and vitamin B6 tablets. The periodontal indexes, clinical efficacy, gingival bleeding index and tooth mobility were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, PD, GI, AL and PLI in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and those in the observation group were lower than the control group (P<0.05). The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was 96.67%, which was higher than 66.67% in the control group (P<0.05). The gingival bleeding index of the observation group was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05).The proportion of degree Ⅰ loosening in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the proportion of degree Ⅱ loosening was lower than that in the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusion Minocycline hydrochloride ointment combined with oral metronidazole and vitamin B6 tablets is effective in the treatment of periodontal abscess, which can effectively inhibit inflammation, improve periodontal status and chewing function of patients, and promote early recovery of patients
