Abstract:Objective To investigate the oral health status of 2022 freshmen in Shenzhen Technology University. Methods The freshmen of 2022 in our school were selected as the research objects. According to the "Basic Method of Oral Health Survey" of the World Health Organization, the freshmen in September 2022 were examined, and the oral health status of the freshmen was investigated to observe the prevalence of caries, gingivitis and impacted teeth. Results Among 4140 freshmen, the total prevalence of dental caries was the highest (11.50%, 476/4140). The prevalence of caries, gingivitis and impacted teeth in boys was higher than that in girls, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The oral health status of the 2022 freshmen in our school is not optimistic. There are many kinds of oral diseases, among which caries, gingivitis and impacted teeth are common and frequently-occurring diseases among college students. School hospitals need to strengthen the prevention and treatment of oral diseases, educate oral health knowledge and organize regular oral examinations. Early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment of oral diseases can help students develop good oral health habits and improve oral health.
