Abstract:Objective To investigate the restorative effect of iRoot BP Plus as a pulp capping agent in pulpotomy of deciduous teeth. Methods A total of 76 children (76 affected teeth) who underwent pulpotomy of deciduous teeth in Zhangjiakou Stomatological Hospital from January 2019 to December 2021 were selected as the research objects. They were divided into conventional group and study group by random number table method, with 38 cases (38 affected teeth) in each group. The conventional group used calcium hydroxide paste as pulp capping agent, and the study group used bioceramic material iRoot BP Plus as pulp capping agent. The surgical success rate, clinical indicators, root resorption, dentin bridge formation rate and tooth discoloration rate were compared between the two groups. Results The success rate of operation in the study group was 97.37%, which was higher than 84.21% in the conventional group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The operation time, pulp capping time and postoperative swelling duration of the study group were shorter than those of the conventional group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The normal absorption rate of root in the study group was 94.74%, which was higher than 78.95% in the conventional group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The incidence of dentin bridge formation was higher than that in the conventional group, and tooth discoloration in the study group was lower than that in the conventional group at 3 and 6 months after operation, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Bioceramics material iRoot BP Plus as pulp capping agent has a definite repair effect in pulp amputation of decidary teeth, which can improve the success rate of surgery, improve the clinical indicators, ensure the normal root resorption, promote the early formation of dentine bridge, and reduce the risk of tooth discoloration after restoration.
