Abstract:Objective To investigate the prevention and treatment of enamel demineralization in buccal fixed orthodontic treatment. Methods A total of 40 patients who underwent buccal fixed orthodontic treatment in the Department of Stomatology, Beihai People's Hospital from July 2017 to December 2021 were selected as the research objects. They were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 20 patients in each group. The control group was given routine oral care, and the observation group was treated with fluoride and tooth mousse. The satisfaction and enamel demineralization of the two groups were compared. Results The satisfaction rate of the observation group was 85.00%, which was higher than 25.00% of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The proportion of demineralized teeth in the observation group was 17.31%, which was lower than 27.27% in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The incidence of enamel demineralization in the observation group was 35.00%, which was lower than 80.00% in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Buccal fixed orthodontic treatment can cause extensive enamel demineralization. Fluoridize should be effectively applied before treatment. During the treatment, fluoridize toothpaste and tooth mousse should be used for oral hygiene care, which can effectively prevent enamel demineralization and improve patient satisfaction.
