Abstract:Periodontal disease is the leading cause of adult tooth loss in China. In recent years, implant restoration has gradually become an important treatment for patients with periodontal disease who cannot retain their teeth to repair tooth loss. The timing of implantation, the selection of implant materials and the long-term retention of implants in patients with periodontal disease are the focus of attention in clinical treatment. This article briefly describes the characteristics of periodontal diseases, and summarizes the literature on the selection of tooth extraction and implant timing and the development of materials in patients with periodontal diseases. It aims to explore ways to improve the long-term retention rate of implants and explain the new research progress of implant restoration in patients with periodontal diseases.
