Abstract:Objective To compare the cosmetic effect of nasal septum cartilage combined with auricular cartilage transplantation and e-PTFE in patients with nasal tip plastic surgery. Methods The data of patients who underwent nasal tip plastic surgery from May 2022 to May 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. According to the different filling materials, the patients were divided into autologous group (autologous nasal septum cartilage and auricular cartilage transplantation) and expanded group (e-PTFE transplantation). Propensity score matching method (caliper value=0.01, 1:1 matching) was used to eliminate the confounding bias caused by the differences in baseline data. Finally, 48 pairs of patients with comparable baseline data were obtained in each group. The perioperative indicators and complications (scar hyperplasia, nasal tip redness, infection), changes of nasal morphology (nasal length, nasal tip height, nasal tip width, nasal tip angle) before surgery and at 6 months after surgery and profile aesthetics (Ricketts beauty line) and satisfaction at 6 months after surgery were compared between the two groups of patients. Results The healing time in autologous group was shorter than that in expanded group (P<0.05). The nasal length, nasal tip height, nasal tip width and nasal tip angle in the two groups at 6 months after surgery were greater than those before surgery, and the nasal length, nasal tip height and nasal tip angle were greater in autologous group than those in expanded group (P<0.05). The qualified rate of profile aesthetics in autologous group was 97.92%, which was higher than 85.42% in expanded group (P<0.05). The satisfaction of nasal tip plastic effect in autologous group was higher compared to expanded group (93.75% vs 79.17%, P<0.05). Conclusion Nasal septum cartilage combined with auricular cartilage for nasal tip plastic surgery can effectively improve the cosmetic effect of nasal tip, and enhance the profile aesthetics and satisfaction of plastic effect, and it has fast postoperative incision healing and low risk of complication.
