Abstract:The prevalence of traumatized primary teeth is high. Correct diagnosis, appropriate treatment plan, and long-term follow-up are essential for good outcomes for traumatized primary teeth. Selective splinting in root fractures, alveolar bone fractures, and luxation injuries can lead to favorable treatment outcomes in the primary dentition. This article refers to the 2020 International Association of Dental Traumatology guidelines for the management of traumatic dental injuries and recent literatures, aims to review the preoperative evaluation of traumatized primary teeth, the types, indications and prognosis of splinting, and to improve the understanding of splinting in the traumatized primary teeth.
