Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of combined orthodontic and restorative treatment in adult patients with malocclusion deformity. Methods A total of 50 adult patients with malocclusion deformity admitted to our hospital from October 2019 to September 2023 were selected as the research objects. They were divided into reference group and study group by random number table method, with 25 patients in each group. The reference group was treated with orthodontic treatment, and the study group was treated with combined orthodontic and restorative treatment. The clinical efficacy, tooth function, periodontal indexes, quality of life and satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the study group was 100.00%, which was higher than 84.00% of the reference group (P <0.05). After treatment, the scores of masticatory function and occlusal relationship in the study group were higher than those in the reference group (P <0.05). After treatment, the probe depth and periodontal attachment level of the study group were lower than those of the reference group (P <0.05). After treatment, the gingival sulcus bleeding index of the study group was lower than that of the reference group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P >0.05). After treatment, the quality of life scores of each dimension in the study group were higher than those in the reference group (P <0.05). The scores of diagnosis and treatment environment, service attitude, treatment plan and treatment effect in the study group were higher than those in the reference group (P <0.05). Conclusion The application of combined orthodontic and restorative treatment in adult patients with malocclusion deformity is effective. While actively improving the patient's language function and masticatory function, it improves the patient's facial appearance and is worthy of clinical application.
