Objective To explore the clinical effect of transdermal administration of traditional Chinese medicine combined with massage technique in patients with contracture scar. Methods A total of 104 patients with post-burn contracture scar admitted to Hebei Provincial People's Hospital and Tangshan BARKE Hospital from December 2021 to December 2022 were included. The patients were divided into control group and experimental group by random number table method, with 52 patients in each group. The control group was given the massage technique to release the scar, and the experimental group was given transdermal administration of traditional Chinese medicine combined with massage technique. The clinical effect, scar recovery [Observer Scar Assessment Scale (OSAS) and Patient Scar Assessment Scale (PSAS)], overall scar situation [Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS)] and satisfaction score were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group (P <0.05). The color, thickness, roughness, surface area scores and total score of OSAS and pruritus, scar thickness, hardness and color scores of PSAS in the experimental group were better than those in the control group (P <0.05).After treatment, the scores of each dimension of VSS in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group (P <0.05). The satisfaction score of the experimental group was (7.46±1.13) scores, which was higher than (2.69±1.42) scores of the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion Transdermal administration of traditional Chinese medicine combined with massage technique can effectively soften the scar, improve the severity of the scar, relieve the discomfort of the patient's skin lesions, and the patient's satisfaction with the treatment is high.
