Tooth preparation refers to the accurate and irreversible cutting of tooth hard tissue under the guidance of theory, which is one of the key steps in the clinical practice of prosthodontics. The precise preparation of teeth is particularly important in the repair of fixed dentures. The quality of the preparation is directly related to the quality of the restoration and its preservation time, which is of great significance to the long-term effect and success rate of the restoration. Nowadays, with the development of digital technology, the way of tooth preparation is becoming more and more advanced, and the preparation is becoming more and more accurate, so that the retention rate of tooth tissue is also improved. The retention rate of tooth tissue is different in different ways of tooth preparation. Based on this, this article reviews the relevant literature and summarizes the application of different tooth preparation methods in oral fixed restoration, in order to provide reference and guidance for clinicians in tooth preparation.
