Abstract:Objective: To analyze the aesthetic reconstruction effects of subcutaneous pedicled flaps with V-Y advancement in repairing post-malignant tumor resection wounds on the lip. Methods: A total of 40 patients with post-malignant tumor resection wounds on the lip were selected, all of whom received treatment between February 2024 and October 2025. Upon admission, they were divided into two groups based on differences in treatment protocols: 20 patients receiving conventional tension-reducing sutures were assigned to the control group, while 20 patients undergoing subcutaneous pedicled flap V-Y advancement repair were assigned to the study group. The lip morphology (including lip eversion, philtrum, cupid's bow, and labial tubercle shape), scar hyperplasia incidence, and quality of life were compared between the two groups. Results: The study group exhibited lower rates of lip eversion (5.00%), philtrum deformation (0.00%), cupid's bow deformation (0.00%), and labial tubercle deformation (0.00%) compared to the control group (30.00%, 20.00%, 25.00%, 20.00%, respectively; all P < 0.05). In terms of scar hyperplasia incidence, the study group had a rate of 5.0%, significantly lower than the control group's 30.00% (P < 0.05). The study group also demonstrated higher quality of life scores at six months postoperatively compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Subcutaneous pedicled flap V-Y advancement repair for post-malignant tumor resection wounds on the lip not only preserves normal lip morphology and appearance, reduces scar hyperplasia, but also improves patients' postoperative quality of life.
