Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the cosmetic effect of pre-restorative orthodontic treatment in patients with dentition defect and malocclusion. Methods: This study adopted cluster sampling method to conduct a project investigation on 82 patients with dentition defect and malocclusion who were included in Lishui Wangzhi Dental Clinic from January 2024 to January 2026. There were 41 patients in each group. The control group received implant denture restoration treatment, while the experimental group received additional orthodontic treatment on the basis of the control group. The dental function, occlusal function, aesthetic effect, and restoration effect of the two groups were compared and calculated. Results: The study found that the excellent rate of the experimental group (95.12%) was higher than that of the control group (80.49%), P < 0.05; after treatment, the pronunciation function, chewing function, and swallowing function of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05). The asymmetry index of bite force in the experimental group was lower than that of the control group, and the maximum bite force and maximum bite contact area were higher than the data indicators of the control group (P < 0.05). The WES score and PES score of the experimental group after treatment were higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Applying pre-restorative orthodontic treatment to patients with dentition defect and malocclusion can significantly improve dental function, increase bite force, enhance aesthetic effect and restoration effect.
