Abstract:Objective To compare the clinical effects of digital impression and conventional impression technique in ffxed denture restoration for dentition defect. Methods A total of 80 patients with dentition defect requiring ffxed denture restoration treated at Yancheng Stomatological Hospital from March to September 2025 were selected, and they were divided into the control group and the observation group by the random number table method, with 40 patients in each group. The control group adopted conventional impression technique, and the observation group adopted digital impression technique. The overall restoration effect, clinical impression-taking operation indicators, marginal and internal fft accuracy of restorations, and complications were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group (97.50%) was higher than that of the control group (85.00%) (P<0.05). The impression-taking time of the observation group was shorter than that of the control group, and the treatment comfort score was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). The measured values of marginal gap and internal fft gap of restorations in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of complications in the observation group was 5.00%, which was lower than 22.50% in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion For patients undergoing ffxed denture restoration for dentition defect, digital impression technique can replace conventional impression technique for clinical impression acquisition. It can effectively shorten operation time of impression taking, improve the fft accuracy of restorations and overall clinical restoration efffcacy, relieve patients’ discomfort during treatment, and reduce the risk of complications after ffxed denture treatment.
