Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) combined with early pressure therapy on wound healing indicators in patients with scars after second-degree infected burns of the extremities. Methods A total of 62 patients with scars after second-degree infected burns of the extremities treated in the Surgical Outpatient Department of Jingjiang People's Hospital Afffliated to Yangzhou University from January 2022 to January 2025 were selected as the research subjects, and they were divided into the control group and the observation group by the odd-even lottery method, with 31 patients in each group. The control group received routine dressing change combined with early pressure therapy, and the observation group received NPWT combined with early pressure therapy. The wound healing indicators, scar conditions and complication rate were compared between the two groups. Results The wound healing time and effective infection control time of the observation group were shorter than those of the control group, and the total frequency of wound dressing changes was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). The VSS scores of the observation group at 3, 6 and 12 months after treatment were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). There was no statistically signiffcant difference in the incidence of complications between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion For patients with scars after second-degree infected burns of the extremities, NPWT combined with early pressure therapy can effectively promote wound healing and reduce scar hyperplasia.
