Abstract:Objective To analyze the effect of oral health nursing education on periodontal and peri-implant health indicators and implant retention rate in patients undergoing oral implant restoration. Methods A total of 150 patients who completed oral implant restoration at Stomatology Hospital Affiliated to Foshan University from January 2020 to December 2022 were selected as the research subjects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into the control group and the study group, with 75 patients in each group. The control group received conventional perioperative nursing, and the study group received oral health nursing education on the basis of the control group. The oral health knowledge and self-care behavior, periodontal and peri-implant health indicators, treatment compliance, peri-implant adverse effect, implant retention rate, Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) score and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results At 3 years after restoration, the scores of oral-health knowledge and self-care behavior in the study group were higher than those in the control group (P <0.05). At 3 years after restoration, the PI, SBI, PD, CAL and MBL of the study group were lower than those of the control group (P <0.05). The compliance rates of standardized brushing, daily interproximal cleaning, regular follow-up visits, diet and smoking control in the study group were higher than those in the control group (P <0.05). The incidence rates of periimplant mucositis, peri-implantitis, food impaction and poor plaque control in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P <0.05). The implant retention rate of the study group was 98.67%, which was higher than 90.67% of the control group (P <0.05). At 3 years after restoration, the OHIP-14 score of the study group was lower than that of the control group (P <0.05). The nursing satisfaction rate of the study group was 97.33%, which was higher than 82.67% of the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion Oral health nursing education can improve periodontal and peri-implant health for patients undergoing oral implant restoration, raise their oral-health knowledge level, self-management ability and compliance, thereby reducing peri-implant adverse outcomes, and improving implant retention rate, oral health-related quality of life and nursing satisfaction.
